It probably goes without saying that most of us are relieved that 2016 is coming to an end. But, also probably having daily panic attacks as to what is to come. This year hit hard, like a really bad car wreck, or when you stub your toe on a chair and you literally “can’t even” as some say. However in result to such a shit year I do believe that it left us with a lot of great music. It’s funny how that is usually the case now isn’t it?

I write this while sitting in a semi secured terminal at the Berlin airport, eagerly waiting to board my flight back home for the holidays. On a personal level I enjoyed 2016 very much (aside from all of the bullshit in the media). I finished a touring cycle playing guitar with Tigers Jaw, worked the remainder of the year with Against Me touring for their most recent album, and on my down time from all of that I moved to California to be closer to a very special person in my life (a dog). I did not however record a lot of podcasts and for that I am truly sorry. I need to find a better way to manage my time while traveling and record more of these interviews. Hopefully in 2017 I will be better about that but I can’t promise you anything, as I am human with many flaws. Procrastination being one of them.

Here are five fun facts about myself that I learned in 2016…

  1. I like pickles now
  2. I am a millennial
  3. Older people don’t like millennials
  4. I refuse to buy bluetooth headphones
  5. Les Pauls for Life

Now to get to the point, you’re all here for a reason aren’t you? It’s because you truly love year end list. In typical fashion to last years post I will not review each of my picks in a typical lengthy fashion, but instead just one sentence or word. I am not a music journalist, therefore I do not review records. But I do enjoy sharing them. Hopefully this is not a list of records that you already despise, or on the flip side already love and this is just completely boring and useless for you. But then again most of the shit on this blog is pretty damn boring. I apologize for nothing. See you suckers in 2017, and stay safe!

WAIT!

One more thing (HA!). I started a playlist on Spotify. This weeks mix is a “year end” recap of all my favorite songs this year. You can check it out in the sidebar of this website or follow THIS link. Give it a follow and use the remainder of your data usage to download it offline. Don’t be a dingus!
